Green Fields - The Brothers Four

'Greenfields', 'Try To Remember', 'Seven Daffodils'등

많은 주옥같은 노래로 60년대를 풍미하였던 브라더스 포는 47년간을 한결 같이

깊고 그윽한 하모니와 서정적 멜로디로 활동한 4인조 남성 folk group이다.

1957년에 결성되어 미국 folk song 역사에 큰 자리를 차지하고 있는 이들은

기타.반조.만돌린.업라이트 베이스 등 어쿠스틱 악기 구성으로 1960년대

미국의 '포크 송의 부흥(folk revival)'에 앞장섰던 그룹으로 수 백만장에 이르는

음반 판매고와 편안한 스타일의 연주와 노래로 대중들로부터 인기를 누렸다.

1957년 워싱턴 대학 재학 중이던 밥(Bob Flick / upright bass, vocals),

마이크(Mike Kirkland / guitar, banjo, vocals), 존(John Paine / guitar, vocals),

리차드(Richard Foley / guitar, vocals)에 의해 결성된 이들의 본격적인 데뷔는

1959년 샌프란시스코의 유명 클럽이었던 헝그리 아이(Hungry I)에서 부른 노래로

 데이브 브루벡의 매니저 모트(Mort Lewis)의 눈에 띄게 된 것이 계기가 되었고,

콜럼비아 레코드와 계약을 맺고 두번째 single인 '그린필즈(Greenfields)'가

US 팝 차트 2위를 기록하면서 대중적인 포크 송 그룹으로 자리잡게 된다.
